well, i've been tweaking/rebuilding my rig lately, and i've been playing with my moogerfooger mf101 and my digitech bass whammy. now for effects and such i usually resort to rack gear (have a boss se70 for effects and a marshall jmp1 i use for distortion) but i've been reading the pedalboard thread and i'm stung by the bug. curse you all!!! -shakes fist-

so. given that i have an mf101 and a bass whammy, what else do i need to have a pedalboard worthy of my bass collection . http://lordonly.net/Images/John/jtfamilyx2.jpg

i'm planning on getting the mf102, 103 and definitely the mf105b - have you heard that thing -woot!

what other cool wacky effects would you guys suggest? not really too concerned with delay, i have that available via the boss se70, and the marshall jmp1's distortion is quite rockin, but i would be game for distortion pedals if they really rocked.

I just ordered an MXR Bass Blowtorch!! I wanted a distortion that held its low end and also provided a bit of a synth vibe, I should get it in a couple of day, also I ordered an MXR Bass Auto Q while I was at it.
They have some decent soundclips on thei website:
http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?p..._detail&cat=16

I also got a Peterson Strobo Stomp, I know it's not an effect but it is an awesome pedal and the DI/Mute feature is a BIG plus!!!

If I were you I'd check out a Bass Wah. I like the Dunlop 105Q, I put a sample of it

Dunlop 105Q SOUNDCLIP

but you may also look into something else like a Morley, which I know some players prefer.

Now you've got me curious about that Marshall JMP1!

I assure you, it's dead silent when you're not playing or sustaining a note!

Check out my clip here: NEW SOUND SAMPLES (And they work fine!)

I also wrote a review a while back, comparing it to the SansAmp GT2: Distortion Review: GT2 vs. Blowtorch

And let's not forget Sir Edward V's stuff: SEV's MXR Bass Blowtorch Review

While you're at it, check out the B:Assmaster thread that showed up today.

but seriously:

look into the Malekko B:Assmaster and the 3Xfx FatMan for crazy cool fuzz/distortions with great character, lots of tweakability (Assmaster), and lots of awesome noize (FatMan). i'm sure i'll have more suggestions as the thread progresses, but that's what i got for now.

the Blowtorch is looking more and more appealing.....

I can only recommend the Moogerfoogers - have 101 through 105B, except the 102 which I sold again. You can check out my boards for further inspiration in the end of the sticky "post your board"-thread here now

Depth Charge too. And the Brown Dog fuzz.

Am I the only one who thinks it's funny that a guy with 7 string basses is looking an octave pedal?.

John, I think you'd really dig the Prescription Electronics Depth Charge pedal

lol.

seriously, though, i wanted to know about some non-descript funky hard to describe pedals, effectwise, that you guys might have heard. besides, here's an opportunity for you guys to directly influence a mod!

so far, i'm completely sold on the blowtorch, it WILL be mine, asap.

now, checking out the b:assmaster....

it's their rack mounted midi guitar preamp. bass distortion through it sounds pretty sweet. i have a link to some here...

http://www.garageband.com/mp3/Lord_O...0LdsaSnYVexYG8

the long solo at the end of the clip, starting at about 7:25 is my fretless 7 through the marshall with a bit of octaver/phaser from a tc-electronic g-force added in.

the b:assmaster sounds pretty cool, sorta similar to the blowtorch but maybe not quite so "synthy" sounding.

would love to hear a comparison between the two.
