Custom Pedal, Who Can Build Me This?

Sign in to disble this ad
So what I'm looking for is basically a highly versatile dual pedal: one side is an OD and the other fuzz. The fuzz will be based on a Colorsound Tonebender with volume, tone and gain controls (maybe an additional mids knob as well). The OD will be based on an OCD with volume, tone and gain controls. Each will have their own separate switch so you can use one at a time or stack them. Here's the fun bit, I want two knobs: one to be able to blend the overdriven signal and the fuzz signal together and the other as a clean blend. Also, if it's even possible, I think it would be cool if there was a switch that allowed you swap the order: OD --> fuzz, fuzz --> OD. Let's hear it guys, I want your opinion on this.

Max at SFX can! He builds great pedals and takes on very challenging custom projects with great results; take a look at the Custom Shop link on his site. He's also a TB'er (Silent Fly). Get in touch with him via email; he's very easy to work with.

I'd buy one. The OCD is the one pedal I really wish I'd kept. Match that with a killer fuzz pedal and a clean blend...

Max @ SFX if you're in the UK.

Brian @ smallsound/bigsound or Taylor @ Iron Ether.

Everyone is giving good suggestions, but I am confused about one thing.

You said you want a blend knob for fuzz/ od. I take this to mean that you want your fuzz and OD in parallel.

Then you said you want a switch to swap the order, which would be moot of they were in parallel.

Is the 'blend' a way to change the setup from a high gain overdrive/ low gain fuzz to a low gain overdrive/ high gain fuzz, or is it for parallel operation? Or do you want an additional switch to have the dirts go from parallel to series?

You'll need to figure it out before someone builds this.

What I was thinking was having them in a parallel circuit. Thanks for the suggestion, now that I understand this a little more I don't think I need the blend knob as I can control the amount of each side with the volume knobs. And yes, thank you, since they will be in a parallel circuit I do not need a way to swap the order of each. Originally I was thinking of running them in series and switching how the pedals stacked (OD/fuzz, fuzz/OD). So, OD and fuzz in parallel with a clean blend knob. Thanks for the help.

I'll add to the chorus of Max @ SFX. He built me a dual overdrive/tone pedal for me awhile back, based on his Red Dragon. He was great to work with, the price was more than fair, and the pedal turned out awesome.
