Cutting Through The Mix We have seen the question asked, "How do I cut through the mix?" which is then followed by various pedals that boost volume, frequencies, etc, in an attempt to get louder or cleaner. I just watched an interesting vid from JustNick. http://youtu.be/gcCjFTvUFls While he is addressing guitar players, I think there is something to be learned for bassists, as well. |
Very good video. |
Screw that noise, smiley face EQ and MOAR WATTS CUZ THE WATTS MATTER MOST!!! |

Oh, NOW I get it! My tone should be a spatula, not a knife! |
"Delicious fried musical whole", mmmm! When did Sylvester Stallone start doing guitar videos? :) |

I would never want to hurt one! |
Friends don't let friends play detuned guitars. |
Ahhh, someone who gets it. I just hope my guitards do when I explain it to them the way he did - they never understood it in plain English... |
Have them watch the video. JustNick has a way of explaining things so even a guitar player can understand it. :) |
That's a good idea, I may have to steal that one. |
Thou shalt not cut through the mix. Thou shalt sit in the mix! |

Disgusting. You should be ashamed. CUT THAT MIX!!! |
The knife was the best part. Picture some one pulling it out on a keyboardist in your range:D |
I loved this video. Such an excellent explanation of things you know in your head but have a hard time verbalizing. *keyboardist's left-hand goes too far* STOP THAT! Why? .....it just sounds bad! now I can say, "you're treading on my frequencies in such a way that the overlap produces a muddled sound to the ear" |
"You are invading my frequency space. Stop it." |
Video Summary JustNick's three points
