D.I. for a Bongo 5HH

Sign in to disble this ad
While waiting for my MM Bongo 5HH to arrive, I need to find another d.i.
I have a bddi I use with my P bass and I also use an Avalon U5 live, on occasion. On my list: PJB Bass Buddy, Radial JDI, J48 and Tone Bone/Bass Bone. Radial offers a few d.i.'s, which one is best for an active bass? Am I better off with the Tone Bone for further tone tweakage? I like the idea of the Bass Bone, because I could plug in a second bass (eub) but is the Tone Bone capable of delivering a flat signal like the JDI and J48? Much confusion on my part

Thanks, Steve

Lots of discussion on this subject already. Good terms to look up include "radial", "jdi", "j48", "bassbone", etc.

I have a tone bone and its great. Yes you can run a flat signal and swithch to a 3 band eq on the other chanel/bass for tweakage. There are lots of opinions on them - good and bad. My only problem is that it runs from a power supply rather than 9 volts. In my opinion they look a bit daggy too. But it works well. And they have a manual that makes sense, mostly.
