Damn you, Tonepad, your fuzz confuses the crap out of me. Major help needed!

I'm building a Fuzz Face a là the tonepad layout, but I'm lost.

Both battery leads are connected to the board, that's not good. Is there anyway to make it work another way?

How would I wire a status LED without using mil bypass/3PDT switch (I'm using a DPDT)?

And finally, I can use the Hammond case I have as ground connection between both jacks shields, correct?

The schematic actually shows you what to do. Connect the ground side of the battery to the input jack sockets 'ring' terminal. When you insert a mono jack plug it will short this connection to ground.

Easily? You won't. But you could build some extra circuitry like the Millenium Bypass.

Yes.

Thank you so FREAKING much.
So, since I'm doing this in positive ground, I connect the black lead to the board, and the red lead to the input jack ring? And all problems solved?

It should work since I've cleared that up

I guess I'll build the Mil. Bypass now, just for that sexy green LED I bought.

related question, on tonepad's offboard wiring schematics, they show how to use a "Millenium pcb" in order to wire in a status LED on their pedals, where can I buy a Millenium pcb?

okay, that picture really helps, I cant really read schematics, I can pick out of schematics what each component is, but not how to wire it.

One more question, should I just solder all that together and let it just hang in the box, or use some kind of perfboard or something for the bypass?

Either or works, but I'd use perfboard.

+1 on perfboard

Last-minute question:
To use the chassis as ground between both jacks, how do I do that?

Depends on the jack, but most of them will, by virtue of their design, connect the sleeve to the chassis physically once they are mounted. Mount the jack and check for continuity between their sleeve terminals.

Thanks, thats what I was thinking, but hey, I could've been wrong.
They're just standard mono/stereo jacks.

Fuzz Face Bypass with LED using DPDT

Hey, I found this thread while I was trying to figure out the exact same thing. The "millenium" bypass schematic shown only works for negative ground. If you read up on this, you need to have a PMOS or P-channel JFET for use with positive ground.

This was driving me crazy too and I didn't feel like buying a P-channel JFET so I spent a bit of time figuring out the solution. It actually took me about 4 hours, but the solution isn't too hard!!! All you need is one PNP and one NPN general purpose transistors and some resistors. I used 2N3906 and 2N5089 but 2N3904 or a wide variety of others will work fine. I used a white LED, a 1Meg, 22Meg resistor and two 1N4148 diodes with a 2k resistor for the LED.

I will post a build report with a link to my schematic on the tonepad site sometime. If you want the schematic now, email natedoggydog at hotmail dots com and I will gladly send it for you.

Attached is a low quality quick .jpg I made in some software at school.
