i dont think its done on bass...

perhaps a synth? sounds like square wave to me.

It's a synth bass. You can get close with a certain fuzzes, but I'm no expert.

only thing that comes to mind for me is to use the ibanez synth bass 7, and make it REALLY stoccato,... otherwise the distortion and oscillating side of it will ring through too much,...

I've got both of those and they won't get there.

Maybe look at the Robot Factory Pulse Synth - looks like it ought to be able to do it. The samples on the site are all guitar but I think with a bass, and judicious use of its low-pass filter, you should be able to get very close. The Moog FreqBox should be able to do it in hard-sync mode too. Not sure what else.

Any PWM-type circuit will get close ish, but nothing will sound like that other than a synth
