Danelectro FAB pedals - ok?

Sign in to disble this ad
they are going real real cheap atm, looks like they're making way for the Cool Cat range. Am thinking of picking up an echo and flange, just since they are so so cheap. Worth it for a bargain or just something cheap that will be terribly unuseable?

I tried the FAB metal and i didn't like it because for me it wasn't able to handle the low frequency well. As for form factor i think it looks cool and is very light. I would want to try the flange if i could. If ever you get the echo and the flange i would love to hear some clips.

I have to honestly say that the chorus is the nicest i've tried in a long time.
Sat quite happily on my board for the past 3 years.

The flanger is great too, very thick and warm, and the echo is cool, classic almost reverb-y sounding.

I second the approval on the chorus. And I just picked one up (my 2nd) for .99 on the 'bay. Seriously.

The flange is nice, but I couldn't really dial in a perfect Pink Floyd tone without a Manual control (like I can on my Boss BF-2). I did however find a very nice Rhodes setting for "No Quarter"

I have the Chicken salad. It is ok. It does the job for a $20 pedal ya know.

I'll also sing the praises of the FAB Chorus. Totally usable and cool little pedal.

Makes me want to pick up another one....

I have the Fab Distortion and the tone sucks on it and is terrrible for recording but it actually has better sustain than my DS-2. Depends what your planning on using it for aswell. If its for just jammin in your room or band practice its fine but for recording and gig situations I would say no.

On the other hand Ive got the Fab Chorus and its a great chorus and I plan on keeping it as a backup when I upgrade to the EHX Small Clone. My friend has the Fab Flange and I think hes happy enough with it. It can get pretty crazy too! As for the FAB Echo tho...I would rather buy a proper delay pedal. You gotta ask yourself do you wanna buy alot of cheapo pedals just to do you until you get something better or should you just put the money into something good now and save yourself money in the long run.

I really liked my FAB Flange (I gave it to a friend as a going away present). It's nice and warm but can get surprisingly weird.

I love the Fab Chorus. If it had a more traditional design, it'd still be on my board instead of my CS-9. The input, output and power all on the back of a small enclosure is a pain.

Tried out both the pedals and unfortunately found both unsuitable. The echo was too short for me to find useful for bass, and the Flange to noisy to be usable live.
