danelectro pedal question

Sign in to disble this ad
has anyone ever used the really cheap danelectro pedals on a bass? im running low on money, and im trying to build a pedal board, and i was going to complete it with a flange, and an echo pedal.i dont think they will last for ever, but for $14.99 i dont think anyone would expect that.but have you ever used on before? and do you think they are ok to use?

thanks.

I used the pepperoni phaser for a couple of days and returned it because the knob broke off. The knobs are very cheap. It sounded ok, but it definitely sucked some tone out of the bass on the bottom.

I had a grilled cheese (yellow) distortion and whatever the blue chorus pedal was called (milkshake?). I gave them away. They hissed like mad regardless of whether they were bypassed or not. They were pretty flimsy and I would never recommend them to anyone! The chorus had a reasonable sound to it, but the distortion has very little control over the sound.

In a word, NO.

The Fab effects are ridiculously good sounding for the money. I used a Fab Chorus for a while, and it sounded killer. My brother had a Fab distortion for a while, too, and it sounded really nice. I've heard good things about the Fab Flanger as well, but I've never tried it. The Echo is borderline useless for bassists, though. It's got a very short delay time, and it can't be set for a mild, ambient delay sound.

I love the FAB chorus. My favorite chorus actually. Easy to get great sound out of. Set it and forget it. The Flange is good albeit a little noisy. The echo is useless. The OD isn't half bad for a cheap OD.

Fab flange works nicely on bass.

I used the Hash Browns Flanger. It seemed very mild. I like a flanger that sounds like a jet plane landing, and the Hash Browns was not that flanger. But it worked, and it sounded decent enough.

I used the BLT Slap Back Echo. It also seemed very mild; actually, I could hardly tell that it was working. I took it out of the chain amost as soon as I put it in.

I've heard from others that Danelectro effects work best at the beginning of an effects chain; so the Pepperoni Phaser, Surf and Turf Compression, Trip L Wah, or one of their many overdrive pedals (or whatever else you might consider putting at the beggining of your effects chain) might be an excellent choice for a Danelectro pedal.

I've had my eye on some other Danelectro Effects Pedals, but I'd hate to spend even $15 on another ineffective effect.

I have a fab flange and chorus, and I like them, especially for the price. But for my use, they seem really noisy and the knobs are kind of annoying to set. But for $15 I'd definatly recommend them.

I've got a fab chorus thats hard to beat for the price. My buddy rocks a fab flange on guitar and it again sounds quite nice. And if you can get your hands on a Fab Tone distortion pedal, it does some knarly distortion/fuzz tones on the bass

Well the echo is useless from the factory yes. I got one and you cant do much of anything with it.

I am in the process of modding it to be the coolest lo-fi digital delay you have ever heard of. Everyone says the mods im doing makes it an incredible and unique delay.

I have a lot left to do, but when its done ill be sure to show it off.
