Darkglass b3k ?

Does anyone else have any issues with a slight "clippy" sound based on the input level? I have to dial back even a passive bass to avoid it. Sounds great when I get there but sucks I have to sacrifice db for tone...anyone?

I use an attenuator pedal (Barge Concepts) to lower the signal level before going to my pedals, some can't handle my high output basses.

TC Electronic and Digitech Hardwire are the best I've seen at handling hot signals without issue. Boss and normal Digitech being the worst.

No problems like that with my Bongo (active) or my passive jazz.

Hey! What power supply are you using with it?
A for the "clippy" tone, what is it like? (samples would help a lot!)... mainly to determine if your pedal is behaving as it should or not .

Let us know!
Doug.

I don't think so for I use the same .

And what bass or effects are you running before the pedal? The clip will probably help!

I've run an active bass (X.OC5) with the B3K and gotten some darn good tone with some tweeking, but running a passive Fender American Jazz 5 standard, I almost couldn't get a bad sound anywhere on the dials. I think the pedal loves passive basses. I want to get another just to have as back up.

Just got my B3K today, so maybe I'm not the best authority, but I've been messing around with it for hours and haven't had any type of clipping with a passive Jazz, a 9 volt active, and an 18 volt active bass.

I think like Darkglass's first post suggests, your power supply might be the culprit. If you're daisy-chaining it, try using it by itself.

BTW - i LOVE the B3K! Such an amazing pedal. Worth the price and the wait!

I'm not having that issue even with my very hot active Spectors.

Yeah, I thought it was strange.
I use mine with a lot of Active stuff (Lakland 5 and Mayones with EMG's).
And it seems to clip the intended way.

It could be that your daisy chain is overloaded like fellow "Im a sock" suggested.
Have you tried with another amp also? You might be clipping the amp's preamp.

Keep me posted so that we sort this out .

Regards!
Doug.

I'd just like to chip in and say I run a Finnish-made B3K alongside five other pedals on a One Spot with no issues.

Well I'm done with the one spot, really, it's just noisy anyway. Just scrapped my old board and went to the voodoo pedAl pwr 2 mounted "under" the pedaltrain, way cleaner NO POWER STRIPS!
The B3K runs independently (always on) in the A channel of the line splitter, all other drives, filter, etc go to channel B. the main out of everything hits the compressor and its magical- problem solved-Click image for larger version

Nice board! I only have a 1 Spot in my gearbag on hand if I needed to just plug in a single pedal without my board. Handy for that, but you can't beat a powered pedaltrain.

Also nice to hear you fixed the problem.

Yeah, I power 5 pedals without issues. If I had couple more I'd probably go for a supply with more juice.

Regards,
Doug.
