I had one, its a nice pedal, very well built, but it had way too much of an inherent mid-scoop that you couldn't dial out for my liking. That said the B3K is the shizzle.

Thanks Mark. That was helpful. I was afraid of the mid scoop being an issue.

Anybody else use one of these in a live situation? Passive vs active basses. How does the thing sound?

Passive Bass (Fender '62 MIA Reissue)

Active Bass (Warwick Vamypre SN)

Recorded into garageband (iPad) via Apogee Jam.

Excuse the bad playing, sorry I've never used it live so I can't comment, but it really fattens up the tone.

The first round is the pedal bypassed, then settings flat, then a few other combinations.

From the Youtube videos and these samples, I prefer the bypassed tone.

I think this pedal is useful when you have a pedal that may sound too shrill or harsh and you want to tame the high frequencies. Or if you have a pedal that cuts low or low mid frequencies you can use the harmonic booster to boost the bass frequencies. I basically used it as a low pass filter with a volume boost. My personal setting is with the treble at 9 o clock, bass at 3 o clock, volume at about 12 o clock, soft mode, attack boost off.

Just to expand on that, I think this pedal actually cut the midrange out and gave you the ability to boost the bass and treble quite a bit. FOr my needs, I loved the amount of gain on tap and the attack swtich (which gave you the ability to get a little bit of subtle grit to the signal). If the bass and trebble were boost/cut and not just boost you could have cut them, made them ids stand out and had a wonderful booster, but to my ear the mid cut was just way to significant and it really made the tone of the bass too brittle for my liking. Peoples tastes will vary though - I can imagine for turning a bass into a "slap machine" clicking on this pedal would be great. It wasn't for me though.

Apparently not a lot own this pedal yet. I think I'm going to pass on ordering one based on feedback so far.
