darkglass mirotubes b3k vs vintage

Was considering buying a Darkglass microtubes b3k but was wondering whether i should get the b3k or pre order the vitage microtubes. I wasn't really impressed with the teaser video though

I want to know too.
I have a B3K.
Could I use B3K + VT bass to make it sounds close to darkglass vintage?
Or the only way is to buy a darkglass vintage?

The Vintage should be shipping this week if I remember correctly.

What kind of tone do you want?

They're pretty far apart as far as tone styles....

looking for a good veritable overdrive/dirt pedal for hard rock and classic rock

Could you give some adjectives or examples of what you'd like to get close to? I could think of bands in both of those genres that could fit either pedal.

Rush or Black Sabbath or something.

But I play aggressive metal too.
So I will keep my B3K and make it sounds like that.

Haha. Yeah. I'd say the Vintage for Rush and Sabbath but the B3K for the aggressive metal.

Nope. They should be shipping in March now.

I agree! Both pedals are very differently voiced! The B3K is clearly geared towards the punk/hard rock/metal styles being so aggressive and punchy. The Vintage has a lot more mids and less of a sharp sound to it, so it will generally work the best for more subtle and mellow styles.

Yes, we are sending emails to all our customers and dealers - unfortunately there was a slight delay with our PCB supplier mainly due to the introduction of the new pedal and the implementation of some improvements operations-wise.

We were doing our absolute best for having everything ready to ship within a week but this one is beyond our control - yet not unheard of when introducing new products (in manufacturing there're all sorts of hiccups you run into when doing large scale processes for the first time)

It's a first-time thing and ironically enough, some of the improvements that partially caused this delay will shorten future turnarounds (Yes, to even less than the actual 30 days)

Regards,
Doug.

I got my email today. I'm not worried about the wait. In the meantime, my B7K keeps me warm at night:)

To expand on what Doug said, the manufacturing delay occurred because the new PCB manufacturer we're using ran out of black soldermask in the middle of the production run and had to order more. The good news is that they're making enough PCB's to last us several months, so we will no longer be out of stock for extended periods of time.

from the clips that I've heard, i prefer the new vintage pedal over the B3K (and the B3K is a great pedal).

Is it possible to get close to a Rush tone (i.e. "Moving Pictures") with the B3K? I've only had it for a few days and haven't had much time to play with it. The Vintage seems to do it pretty well.

I really like the sound of the B3K so far, especially since I'm stacking it with my Iron Pig. It helps make my tone a little more aggressive and more full (thanks to the magical switches). That being said, I am very curious about how the Vintage will sound with my rig.

But I guess my real question is... how do they sound together?! Come on, Doug! Help a brother out here.

What I like of both of them is that they are quite different! It allows for a lot of different driver and voicing ranges... I would say they can even compliment each other in several ways!

The best, as I always recommend, is to try them out and see what they can do for you... if they don't live up to your needs or expectations, you can (almost always - depending on the dealer I guess) return them!

Regards,
Doug.

Nooooooo! I was so excited that it was February! But guess I'll just have to stay excited for another month now. Sure it'll be worth it.

Bit annoying though, I've got this plus some other stuff on order from the US, unless I want to pay international postage twice, I'll have to wait until March to get it all :crying:

Doug any chance we'll see some new videos of the Vintage this month then?

Yeah, we were disappointed as well :(.
As for more samples, I'm working on it ;).
