According to youtube clip info and the comments, this guy got his sound from aguilar opb-2, a boss lmb-2, an ashdown hyperdrive, and his warwick thumb bass. if particular bass guitars is not an issue, a bass that provides a punchy sound should do the trick.

Better yet...you could probably get the same results with a darkglass bk3 microtubes bass overdrive pedal.

1, i dont want any suggestions saying it's neccessary to buy a pedal that would cost more than a bass. 2, i have crap equipment and no money

How can we tell you how to get that tone if you have no money to spend? I´m assuming you want FX advice, since this is in the FX forum.

Roundwounds, plenty of high end out of the bass, mild drive effect to give it just a hint of drive, play it clanky by plucking towards the bass to slap the strings off the frets.
