| DBX 1046 compressor - no attack & release?

I found a dirt cheap DBX 1046, and it's probably the best compressor I'll ever find for 180$. However, the lack of attack and release controls kinda puts me off. To the users out there, how effective is this unit when trying to dial in the right amount of compression with just the threshold, ratio, knee type and output controls? The manual didn't really clear it out for me... |
