| dbx 266XL and compressor/gate advice

So just got a 266XL in a rig purchase from a fellow TB'er (thanks again!). I've only ever used a noise gate on drums and really have no idea how to use a compressor. I'm currently reading through the manual and the Ovnilab FAQ stuff.
I'm out of town so can't even try it out yet. I plan on setting everything to 12:00 and fiddle everything, but could someone give me some tips on how to mess with this stuff? I'll be using an ATK700 into a SansAmp RBI. I'm playing sludgy rock and roll with a decent amount of fuzz but still need note clarity (not full on doom). Does the gate even have an application here? |
