DC Brick Question

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm really tempted to buy a DC Brick, but I'm curious whether one of the outputs one the front would be enough to power the T-rex Sweeper. I read that it delivers upto 375mA's, would mean that it is 375mA devided by 7 for each output?

Do not buy the Brick, it combines the "non-isolated outputs" of a daisy chain with the "big and bulky" of a brick-shaped supply. The ideal is the reverse: as small as a daisy chain, with isolated outlets as in the better brick-style supplies.

Since the ideal doesn't exist yet, you need to decide whether small size or isolated outlets are more important to you, and pick accordingly.

Voodoo Labs PP2+, T-Rex Fuel Tank, and I think BBE makes an isolated supply as well.

If you have room in your pedalboard, look at Parts Express and buy a 2A power supply. Hopefully, all of your effects use the same voltage but if you make up your own jumpers, polarity doesn't matter. If you get one that puts out 375mA and you have 7 effects, it'll never be able to provide full voltage when they're on.

According to T Rex, the Sweeper only needs 90 mA (at 9 VDC). So literally any normal pedal power supply will do--just not the Dunlop Brick.

I forgot to add that the t-rex sweeper has the highest current draw on my pedal board which is 120mA

If you follow the link Bongo posted it will take you to the Sweeper's page. In the lower right side click technical specs and it says 90ma @ 9VDC...so is T-Rex right or is T-Rex right

I have a question. I'm looking to build a board. The only real sticking point has been the wireless. I have a Line6 G50. I also will be running a fx loop/bypass pedal, Tech21 Sansamp BD DI, Boss CE-5, and MXR Carbon Copy.

I definitely want a nicer power supply. I know I hear good things about the One Spots, etc, but I kinda want an isolated sorta deal.

I guess my wireless requires a good amount of mA to function properly. Is there anything besides the VL PP2+ that can handle what I'm looking for?

I'm just trying to see if I have any other options.

if your pedal requires 90 mA you can go with the burkey flatliner "SIX" it is the size of a boss pedal and have six isolated output the only drawback it is heavy .i got a dc brick on my board and i will have the burkey for my second pedalboard .hope this help .

I don't have a power supply yet. If the DC brick can't work with my wireless, I will just go with a VLPP2+
