Death By Audio -- Fuzz War

New fuzz from DBA, coming at the end of March. Lower priced ($150) than the rest of the DBA stable, because they cut corners on the graphics. Pre-orders now. Sample clips sound pretty good.

Looks way cool.
Bet it sucks for bass, though.

I tried out some of their stuff (on consignment) a year or so ago and almost none of it worked right. Anyone else hear about/run into quality control issues with DBA.

Always love their concepts though. Hmm... sound clips remind me of the guitarist from the Pillows (though Chronicle might be the only one here who knows 'em).

His wiring work is pretty sloppy IME. Which confuses me because his graphic design skills are excellent, and you'd think that attention to detail would translate to the wiring...

When did you contact them, they said on their site that they were going to be out till march 24, so if it was in the last month I'd say their e-mail is probably a bit backed up.

Effects pedal Trivia fact of the day:

The man responsible for Death By Audio is Oliver Ackermann and he is the guitarist for A Place to Bury Strangers.

I just saw APTBS last week. I saw Oliver after the show but didnt talk to him.

I think if you want super dirty/ noisy sounding effects, DBA stuff works well. Which could be a preferable... or not.

His effects are perfect for the APTBS material.

On bass, I have not found them to work so well, and I play power electronics/ noisy experimental stuff at times but DBA stuff gets lost more than not if a few other instruments are present.

APTBS is just a drummer, bass, and guitar.
