Decent Isolated Power Supply with these options...

Sign in to disble this ad
So I need a decent isolated power supply with the capability of putting out 9V DC, 18V DC, 12V AC.

The 12V ACs are to power my EBS ValveDrive and Digitech Bass Whammy. The ValveDrive requires 500mA and the Bass Whammy requires (i think) 780mA. The 18V is to power my future Diamond Bass Compressor when i get it. And of course, the 9V is to power other pedals such as my DD-20, MXR BOD etc

Any suggestions? I need it because I'm trying to avoid having several power packs or a power supply along with a power pack because the power supply doesnt put out that current

Cheers,

Tom

It's probably going to be a pricey one! I know the T-Rex Fuel Tank Classic & Chameleon will power the Valve Drive. Getting something that will deliver 780ma to that Whammy is going to be your problem (unless you spring for one of the 'cadillac' psu's!).

This chart/site will lead you to what you need!

Yeah the Whammy is the deal-killer. To get 12V AC @ 780 mA from the same brick as those others will require a spendy custom unit. I think the T-Rex Classic plus a separate PSU wart for the Whammy is what you'll have to do, realistically.

The Cioks AC10 will do it. You'd just have to combine two of the 9v DC slots for the Diamond.

+1

The Fuel Tank Classic is not isolated on the 9v outputs, fyi. I use it & have never had a problem (actually, I've never yet experienced a problem with shared grounds & I have over 30 pedals!) The T-Rex Chameleon, however, does everything the Classic does, but with isolated sections. I think it's the same price, too.

I hadn't seen that before. It looks expensive... and convenient. Hrmpph.

that looks like a decent power supply for my needs
do you know what cable you run from the wall into it? i like the cables that run into the T-rex power units (i think theyre wall to IEC). for some reason, i cant stand running a normal DC type cable into power supplies such as the dunlop power brick. weird i know :/ hahah

The Cioks supplies appear to have attached (non-IEC) cables from the pics I've seen.

ah k. well if it meets my needs then im fine with that

if i am to use more 9VDC pedals then the available outputs, could i daisy chain one of them as long as the total mA is under 100mA or 200mA depending on which output i use?

Yes- you can do that with any power supply. There's also a 600mA 9v outlet there, which can run a ton of standard 9v pedals if daisy chained.

I have no idea actually- emailing the company is probably your best bet.

You might want to check out the Pedalgear.net 'Juicebox' power supply. The 12VAC output (iso5) is 1500mA.
