decent multi effects pedal?

Sign in to disble this ad
I want to add some effects to my overall tone but I don't feel like spending money on each individual pedal.

I know I need an expression pedal.

I also want to run some chorus, wah, distortion/OD/fuzz at a near constant. and a few bells and whistles wouldn't be so bad either.

I play sludge metal. So think Doom mixed with Hardcore.

tl;dr - what pedal is good?

EDIT: I'm leaning towards this one because I've used DigiTech when I played guitar and it wasn't bad at all.

I don't have a lot of experience with multieffects pedals, but I have been using a Boss ME-50B for a few years now. I like it because it's very simple and gets the job done. I'm pretty sure that you can write custom patches and such on it, but the standard stuff that it comes with is good enough for me.

I really liked my Boss GT-10B. It held up well soundwise when compared to your cheaper individual pedals. Tons of options. Easy to use. It was a cool way to learn what I needed to.

I'd recommend the Zoom B2.1u. Alot of multi effect pedal at a very reasonable price.

The Zoom multifx pedals are sweet, easy to use and has a nice variety of sounds. There a lot of available parameters that you can mess around with the effects that are pretty easy to access.

The one you linked is decent and fairly cheep compard to some others... I think it could be able to get you by and may end up figuring what more you may need someday as well.

The digitec bp355 would work well for what you need for the price.

I must admit, I have not tried every multi, but the ones I have, had sucky OD/Fuzz/Distortion. I didn't get into programming the parameters or anything. I use a multi for some modulation.

the line 6 m series "only played it at the shop" are nice if you don't need amp modeling for bass. zoom makes a knock off but i haven't seen one yet to try.

GT-10B is the best bass specific multieffects available. Clean and low blend on drive effects, nearly all modulation has a blend and the ability to center the effected frequency. Gobs of functionality. I happen to be selling one.

+1. If I ever got a multi-effect pedal I wouldn't look anywhere else. It's even got some stuff that individual pedals aren't even capable of right now.

Probably not on your radar, but the old Digitech BP8 sounds a lot better than all the newer multi-effects I've tried (New Digitech, GT-10B, Zoom...) They pop up on Ebay now and again for cheap.

Another 1+ on the BOSS GT-10B.
Loads of effects and programability, run 15 effects at the same time, parallel effect chains, USB interface.
Check out the free GT-10B patch editor software for a graphical "look" at what it can do.

The BP-8 has awesome dirt tones (it has a tube in it). When I bought mine new, I also looked at the Boss, which I think was a GT-6B. It had lots of features, but the distortions were digital and sounded terrible.
How's the dirt in the GT-10B?

I've had a Digitech BP80 for a few years now and it hasn't been too disappointing. It has everything you listed, and it's fairly good sounding. Not the most amazing thing, but for the price (about $100) it's good.

Like Alec and copperhead i am also a fan of the old Digitech BP8, the best compressor and most studio tube like preamp, very versatile EQ, Whammy, excellent delays and reverb. It does however suffer a serious design issue only having one effect module with most of the coolness limited to 1 at a time.
