Deep Impact

Sign in to disble this ad
My Akai Deep Impact has now been in the repairers for over a year as it has an issue with one of the chips and the shop apparantly cannot source a replacement. In desperation - does anyone have any spare chips/know of any shops that sell parts/have any idea where I can pick up one of these please? You're my last hope guys

Which chip can't they find? The three main chips in mine are:
6264BLF8LT static ram
AK7712A-VT DSP
HD6433642H Microcontroller.

Trouble is, both the DSP and the micro have software programmed into them which you more than likely won't be able to obtain from Akai.

The static ram chip is made by Hitachi, and a simple google search turns up plenty of NOS suppliers and datasheets. It probably won't be cheap for a one-off though.

Have you tried VST, who are Akai parts and service specialists in the US?

Brilliant thanks for your help guys, I'll get on to the repairers and find out exactly which chip it is and have a hunt for one myself!
