Deep Impact alternative

Sign in to disble this ad
I talked to my cousin (who also plays bass) and he told me that the Akai Deep Impact (an effect used by Chris Wolstenholme from Muse) is out of production.

Are there any alternatives out there that would suffice? Maybe by BOSS or Electro-Harmonix?

Do a search for "synth review" and you'll find a good long recent thread all about the good synth pedals.

ooooohhh so thats why mine cost me $500 US...

As for an alternative, they are pretty unique.... A little overrated (but stiil great!), but pretty unique non the less.

I'm morally conflicted about posting this considering this is yet another oft discussed topic... but, what they hey, I'm feeling nice today...

Three major alternatives, but NOTHING really "like" the deep impact at all.

EH Bass Microsynth - big, expensive, no pre-set memory, sounds like the devils bowel movements.

Boss Bass Synth - small, not as expensive, pre-set memory, sounds like a very angry leprechaun (is there any other kind?) trapped inside a nintendo console.

Digitech Bass Synth Wah - small, cheep-ish, pre-set memory, sounds like a very angry leprechauns bowel movements.

Want pet-scaring sounds? Go the EH. Can't be bothered robbing a bank? Go the Digitech. Got no brain? Go the Boss. Simple really...

You are in a good mood today!!

I love the Boss description

I own the BMS and I did own a Synth Wah... The BMS would have to be the winner out of those options (and by far the most pricey). The Synth Wah didn't really give me any joy at all. VERY digital and cold sounding IMO

Funny how you kinda imagine how people might look!

oh, silly bongo! tricks are for kids...
commence butt kicking when you feel ready.

I don't think there's a real "alternative" for the Deep Impact - it's out of production, rare, and uncopyable because of it's digital technology. There's nothing like it. But there are other synths, like nifty mentioned.

A former girlfriend of mine had a portuguese water dog with a blue mohawk named The Fonz.

Or put a wanted ad in the TB classifieds...possibly requires membership??

Either way, I put an ad in and had 3 responses in 15 minutes and about 5 by the end of a week. At least you know its yours and your not in a bid war with someone.

My ad was for $500...Pricey, but I have seen 7-750 on ebay

+1 on not regretting it. Even if its not for you, they are possibly THE most hunted down bass synth... You would have no problem selling it.
