My Deep Impact died at the weekend...or at least went into a coma. I know they are notorious for faults, so I am not that surprised. When the pedal is engaged, it acts the same as in bypass mode - the signal simply travels through the unit unaffected. The input led's do not illuminate. I can still scroll through the patches, and all the parameters remain, so I think it may not be the main processor. I have a few questions - Has anyone had this happen to theirs? Does anyone know of a place that offers repairs on DI's, can't find much on the web? Preferably in the UK/Europe, but would send elsewhere if it was a legitimate and trusted option. I might start with my local solder monkey...hopefully something simple at the input... |

Good luck! |

I sent it to VST in California (I lived in America at the time, so shipping wasn't a big issue). They told me that there were quite a few broken solder joints. They resoldered them at it's worked perfect since...all at a cost < $100. I'm not sure if there's an Akai authorized repair centre in the UK, though. |

VST is the first google hit, but a last resort, I'd rather not send this thing across the pond, given their current insane resale value. |
