Deja Vu delay prob- noise

Sign in to disble this ad
Searched- no results, I suppose due to the name & the fact it's pretty new.
Just grabbed one of these; I had tested one out in the store a couple of days ago & didn't notice excessive noise, but trying it at home it's like a seashell against your ear: HISSSSSSSSS.
There was no one in the store when I tested it, so if there was noise I should have noticed it then. I've also tried the pedal(at home)w/both a power supply & battery; results were the same. The noise increases as I dial it more toward *analog* vs *digital*, and almost completely dissappears altogether when bypassed(not when in *trails* mode, though). Is this an inherently noisy pedal or do I have a lemon? I will go back to the store- I have had nothing but good experiences ther so I'm not worried about his end of the deal- I'll just be super-bummed if this is just a hissy box by design.
Anyone else tried this pedal yet? Beyond the issue it's awesome.
[mixed feelings...]

Called SD; they said an analog delay will inherently be a bit noisy. I also noticed I didn't have the bass' volume up. I'll toy w/this a bit more before I decide how much noise is acceptable. Maybe time to get a nice true-bypass loop pedal...

Followup

In the interest of not besmurtching this pedal's reputation before it's even established, I wanted to say that I was able to reduce the aforementioned noise- I had not taken into account the fact that I was playing through a new(to me)GK-700RBII, and needed to futz w/volume, boost & my bass' volume.
Additionally, I'll say that this pedal is very impressive, & I haven't even messed w/the input options yet. I was a bit disconcerted at the way the delay time knob reacted to on-the-fly adjustments, but dialing the digital/analog control fully toward analog results in perfect spaceship-takeoffability. Tails mode works great, the ratio feature is handy & the lo-fi-ness of the analog side is exactly *the tone* for me.
Worth checking out if you're looking at fairly fancy delay pedals.

Yeah, it was straightup operator error. I've been fiddling w/it off & on all afternoon & LOVE it. Now I gotta check out their tremolo...
