Delay/Chorus pedals for bass...?

Sign in to disble this ad
i see people have been using the Boss delay pedal for guitar but with bass... how do you apply it to bass? do you just beef up your sound with it or actually echo and delay your notes? is it useful or just kinda for fun? I've only seen one band do it live and it was just one little riff the bassist played high up on the neck in between songs and that was all he did with it

what other pedals are useful for bass?

anyone have any experience with the boss bass limiter enhancer (LMB3)?

or use the boss Bass Chorus (CEB-3)?
or the boss Chorus Ensemble, what exactly does chorus and chorus ensemble do to your sound?

if anyone has any experience with these pedals, please share, I'm not ready to get into bass pedals but I would like to take the time to learn why some bassists use the pedals they do

Hi Chris, and welcome to the Effects forum. FYI, these questions are certainly good questions but they are the sort of thing that are best answered by reading through a few pages of the forum, especially noting the stickies at the top, and making use of the search function whenever a specific idea like "delay" or "chorus" crosses your mind. As far as what specific effects "do" or "sound like", there's a decent overview here:

All pedals can be useful for bass...just because it isn't stamped "BASS" on it, doesn't mean that I can't be useful for bass.

There are a couple of delay settings that I use...one is kind of a slapback...which I use for some slapping lines. It mimicks a slap at double time (that's a pretty bad way of putting it though).

Another is a long delay, which I use with a fuzz pedal and a whammy pedal.

As for chorus, I sometimes combine a fuzz with chorus to get a heavy synth sound.

If you're new to effects, I recommend getting a cheap multi-effects unit, where you can figure out what sounds you actually like.
