Hey guys.
Im going to buy a digital delay, and i am pretty sure i have made my mind up. I have spent a fair bit of time researching this, but i just wanted to put it out there for some feedback and suggestions in case i might be missing something.
Im going with digital, as i like the idea of the "endless" repeats, and not so much a fan of the "dark" sound of analogues. I have taken into account ALOT of delays based on features, availability and price (very important).
Im pretty sure i am going to buy a Digitech DigiDelay. I already have a BSW, so i dont mind Digitech. It has alot of features ("tape" and mod settings, 4 second looper). These features suit what i am after and it is reasonably inexpensive.
My other "favourites" are the Boss DD7 and the Hardwrie DL8, however for the price i believe the DigiDelay is the way to go.
Does anyone have any advice or anything to add or suggest, or should i go ahead with the purchase? |

I'm not sure of the model number exactly, but our previous guitarist did some mad stuff with it and he had barely scratched the surface. Not sure on the price, though, but it might be worth a look. |

| | | | I use digidelay and it's all the delay I'll need. Tape delay sounds nice and warm. And there's plenty of other settings that I don't even need. Mostly use tape and mod delay. Sometimes reverse delay for some crazy shiznit.

| | | | Yeah i like the digidelay because all of the features, including the tap tempo and looper. I wasn't too keen on the echo park. Sounded not bad and has alot of settings, but wasn't what I was after.
If I was to go analogue it would be the mxr or ehx mm. |

| | | | Would it be better to spend and extra $50 and get the hardwire dl8? It would be my first choice within the price range... |

Also, I'd recommend trying an M5, if you're hedging whether you like digital or analog, or if you really like options on delay. Because...man, it has a lot of delays.

| | | | I have found a good dl8 and I think I am going to go with that. If I don't get that I might go with the digidelay. Thoughts? |

I know it's a cheap pedal, but it's one of those cheap pedals that can hold it's own against the big boys. The digiverb is also really awesome, and I used to have a hot rod from them that worked great on bass, but sounded like butt on guitar.

It's digital, true-bypass, small enclosure, near infinite repeats, 2 second delay time and the reverb sounds amazing. You can use either delay or reverb separately or combined. Very simple to use. No tap-tempo though....
Definitely worth checking out......a very inspiring pedal that I think will show up on more bassist's boards given time. |

I mean does it sound "modeled" or can it get a nice defined organic sound? |

| | | The digi delay is a good delay pedal. And lots of features. I like the tape delay and the delay with chorus the most.
My favorite digital delay to date is the Ibanez DDL10 "Delay II" |

The TC Electronic Flashback looks like it would be pretty sweet but I've moved up to a Strymon Timeline.
