Delay decisions decisions!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all,

my first post on Talkbass, and hopefully something you folks can help me with!

I'm looking at getting another delay pedal. Either analog or analog-sounding, with the ability to boost repeats louder than the input signal. I'm mostly going to use for ambient stuff, no need for tap tempo but needs to respond well to fuzz and heavily distorted tones. Not fussed by modulation, but want a minimum of 450ms delay time. I'd also like a filter option, to control the tone of the repeats, and this all seems to me to narrow it down to 2 pedals:

catalinbread montavillian
earthquaker devices disaster transport jr

these both seem to fit the bill for me, just wondered what experiences anyone has had with either of these, as being in the UK there's nowhere I can try before I buy!! Equally, if there's anything i've missed that could work, please let me know!!

many thanks!

Also, forgot to add that decent oscillation is important too

Also, think about the Tech 21 Boost DLA. Analog-voiced, has a tone control, can boost, might be what you're looking for.

If you can find one, try a Wasabi forward and reverse delay. It has a mix control, and a high cut. I can't remember the delay time. I know it's long though. I had a Boost DLA(older black one, no tap), I liked it but I found it gave too much boost even with the boost control off. Good luck.
