Question Delay+Harmony Shifting

Sign in to disble this ad
i have a bit of a complicated question.

im thinking of buying the Keeley modified DD-3, for the effects loop, with the effect loop i want to put in some kind of pitch/harmony shifter eg. Boss HR-2, Boss PS-5, Digitech XP-100.

now my question is, i want my repeats to go up in pitch at these intervals each time. so if it makes sense, my repeats would go for example say 5th up, then another 5th up, then another and so on so forth.

Would a combination of said pedals give me that effect?
or am i just going to have to hold out and wait for a PS-3?

i use my MicroPOG and my Nova Delay in a feedback loop (Barge VFB-2) and i can do that, with octaves. I'm not sure how the effects loop in the DD-3 works, but at least you know you can do it in the barge looper.

As the notes get really really high tracking starts to suffer, though. I'm talking mainly about notes that even pianos can't reach.

Meh...Just get a PS-3. I just got one and I am mildly impressed, but it'll do exactly what you want.

Im pretty sure that by the time you get a DD-3 and something else, you could have just got a PS-3. My PS-3 cost me $150.

It depends how the loop works. If it the loop signal is not fed back into the input, then the delays will only be at the interval of your pitch shifter.

If it does go back through the input, then it will raise the pitch by that interval each time it goes through BUT you will also get whatever new notes you play that have not been pitch shifted already. If this is the case you'll get irritating (or awesome) glitch from the pitch shifter if you keep playing, depending on exactly how polyphonic it is.

PS-3 seems like it'll definitely get you what you want, but there is virtue in doing things the hard way. Especially in this case -- you'd have foot control over whether or not you got pitch-shifted delays or just delays.
