Delay help (aka: stupid guitar center)

Sign in to disble this ad
My office is about a block away from a Guitar Center. I didn't have any plans yesterday, so i thought i'd pay it a visit after work.

Specifically i wanted to see what the status was on the EHX Memory Boy. So i went to the 'pedal guy' and our convo went like this:

ME: Hey man, do you know when the new EHX Memory Boy will be comming out.

HIM: *blank stare* I don't know. We could special order it for you though.

ME: umm... no thanks...

HIM: Can i help you with anything else?

ME: Well yeah, the reason i was asking is because my DL4 crapped out on me and i want another delay with an expression pedal input, and i heard that the new Memory Boy has one. Do you know of any others?

HIM: What's an expression pedal? (seriously) You mean like a wah-wah?

ME: *trying to hold back* No... a wah-wah is where i go to get a bagel and coffee in the morning... an expression pedal is... ya know what, never mind... can i try out that Bass Big Muff?

HIM: Yeah bro. Let me know if i can special order that pedal or an expressive one (seriously).

ME: *with harsh feelings i go detune a 1200 fender P bass to C standard and play some stoner metal riffs through an SVT and the BBM really loud*

So yeah... do you guys know then:

a) When the MB is comming out.
b) how its expression pedal compatibility is.
c) if there's any other delay w/ expression .

Thanks!

The Memory Boy is out, as I have seen pics on the latest pedal board thread.

That is awesome. I had a very similar experience at GC a week ago my self. A minute or two of asking questions and a quick realization that if I didn't know the answer already, I wasn't getting it out of anyone here.

Sorry, I haven't seen the Memboy anywhere locally yet, but I haven't been to the effects havens.

Yeah i've seen it online and read some of the TB reviews... i don't have the ability to order off line though, so i'm just waiting for a local shop to get it...

You can mod the GGG Delay for expression of the repeats quite easily.

You should read Mystic Boo's review--it answers all of your questions, except for, of course, when you'll get around to seeing one in person.

The DD7's expression is for tap tempo I think.

ya know i never knew the DD-7 had an expression input to it...

That actually might be a decent option then. I want something smaller than buying a new DL4. Honestly the expression is more important than the cool modulation effects in the Memory Boy... and i'm also not pickey at all when it comes to analog vs. digital...

cool. Thanks! I'll check it out. If it IS tap tempo though im back to square 1

It's tap tempo or expression input I do believe. It's kind of a shame you can't use them both at once...

Yeah i don't have '$$$$' so much as i have just '$$'.

Also like i said, i can only buy locally. So in case someone on CL has one or the used place, i'm pretty limited sadly.

This was the key point ^ I clearly didn't remember the Malekkos (no possessive apostrophe ) at that moment. There's too many to list anyway...that's a good enough excuse .

the memory boy is awesome - tried it out in my local pedal shop, the wave control comined with the modulation can get some absolutely crazy sounds too. Not tried it with expression yes though.

you can get it here, and Richard'll ship worldwide
http://www.effectpowersupplies.com/ (its my local pedal store where i tried the memory boy)
