delay (oscillation) question

Sign in to disble this ad
hey folks - i'm pretty happy with my DD-3 and echobox for delay, but have recently joined a band where the ability for lots of crazy oscillations is called for!

what are the better (i'm guessing just analog for this?) pedals to get really good screaming, tweakable oscillations? not fussed about the actual delay sounds, just the madness

would an EHX memory toy do the job?

cheers

I love me some oscillations! I use the following in various ways...

Boss PS-3 Digital Pitch Shifter/Delay: has 3 delay mode, up to 2 sec delay and can oscillate pretty nicely and with good digital control

Strymon El Capistan: this tape-machine (digi-model but sounds JUST like the damn things), can tape twist for modulated oscillations, and can do it as well if one sets the repeats at 3:00 or greater....sounds AMAZING!

Boss DD-7 : use this digi-beast to self-oscillate both digitally, with the modulate mode for swirliness, the DM-2 (analog) mode for awesome analog wash and the reverse delay for just plain weirdness!

I'm using a EHX Deluxe Memory Boy for this right now. The thing that makes this pedal awesome for oscillation freak-outs is the expression control of the feedback knob, so you can swell the oscillations in and then back it off without bending over to tweak the knob.

MXR Carbon Copy has great oscillation too, and it's easy to tweak it with the side of your foot too without an expression pedal.

+1 for the Carbon Copy. I use that plus a DD-20 to cover all my delay needs.

Another DD-20 user here. I've heard better delays (Eventide TimeFactor & Moog!) BUT the DD-20 does cover about every need I could ever have for delay. Oscillates as well!
