Delay question: Line 6 DL-4 alternatives?

Sign in to disble this ad
The guitarist of a trio I jam with was too sick to make it to rehearsal last night, and since we couldn't cancel our space with a short notice, the drummer and I went in to jam.

I used the opportunity to play guitar. I play guitar at home, but never with others, and definitely never use effects. So I grabbed a bunch of pedals, especially the DL-4 and went to the jam. The looper function was really useful, but I feel lacking compared to some of the new looper pedals. I would love to replace the DL-4, but I really love the delays. I own a EHX DMM, but it doesn't have all the different types of delays. What is similar to the DL-4? The Echo Park? Looking for something with many different types of delay.

Have you looked at the Eventide Time Factor and the TC Electronics Nova Delay?

Boss DD-20 might be something you will want to look at

+1 -- Eventide is amazing, maybe the best digital delay pedal available.

Check out the Boss DD-20 though. It's pretty similar to the DL-4 in a lot of ways (a bunch of different delay models, tap tempo, presets, etc), but has longer delay/loop times and is much sturdier.

The Eventide and Nova Delay are too expensive for my needs. I haven't used my DL4, so I really don't need to get another expensive pedal. No love for the Echo Park?

Much love for my Echo Park...I wished I had a few of them which is why I was I'm curious if the DL-4 gives me what my Echo Park does but mire? Wouls it be a combination of my Park and my Verbzilla in a bigger unit that can have 4 programmable presets?

i have 2 line 6 dl-4's. i have an extensive signal path with among other things a sampler and a roland juno d keyboard as well as a second bass set up that i will tap on to create my loops. i am very happy with them. the only shortcoming i feel is that you can't store loops on the unit, so everything terminates at my computer so that when i get something i like i can save it there, and then input my computer back through the mixer to restore the loops. a friend of mine recently produced a solo cd in which he used the electro harmonix 2880 looper with good results. also line 6 has a new loop station which you may wanna look at ( though i thought it was a little much with all the drums and stuff ).

This is the correct answer.
