Question Delay / Reverb for bass soloing?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Guys, wondered if any of you can advise on what to use for a good solo bass delay / reverb sound? From what I am hearing on some pros' sounds, I can't make my mind up if its reverb or delay thats best, or both? I have tried a boss RV-3 but just can't seem to get the right subtle ambience for soloing. The closest I've got is from my Korg Pandora PX5D (Bass solo setting), although it is a little too much its the best I can find. Only thing is using it live, I would prefer to use a dedicated pedal to give me that sound when I need it. Any ideas?

Get an analogue delay like the Carbon Copy. With short delay time, an analogue delay sounds like good reverb. So, you can kill two birds with one stone.

verb delay

Reverb is probably a little more useful in general. I've tried all of the RVs and they all kind of suck. I would go with one of the new TC Electronic pedals (not the nova series) as they retain an all analogue dry path and have some useful features like a "kill dry switch."

I like verb for solos but find I rarely need it live, as I find the room acoustics adequate, but like to have it for practice and small, dry sounding rooms. Delay is nice nice if used the right way but I find it a little harder to tweek than verb.
