hi guys,
I just got myself an Echo Park and just thought of hearing from you folks how does bassists use delay effect normally?
I mean guitarists would use them rather extensively, but after playing with it for a bit, i just like some trail effects that I have when slapping for example .. other than that I am not sure under what kind of situation will our bass signal be useful with a delay effect and remain not so 'muddy'. I also up the delay time to the max my AD9 does for soloing. I may get a Maxon AD9 pro for my "solo" setting. |

that's what I thought, it does have some reverb-y sense when dialed right, but I guess delay might be too much for an already crowded basslines right?
with addition .. the multiple settings and delay style in the Echo Park really fun! just that its hard to adjust which to use so far I like the normal, slap, pingpong! |

I kept the levels of the signals even, so 50/50. I set the mix of the Echo Park to about three o'clock, so there was very little of the original (overdriven) signal and a lot of the delayed signal. I set the Echo Park to that filter mode ("sweep" I think). What I got was a clean initial note (with little OD) followed by some filtered overdriven notes which were lacking the low end (DOD set to high gain ) so they didn't muddy things up...
I wanted to put an EQ somewhere inthere to delay only the high end of my notes (without the use of the DOD)...
you can also add some reverb, that's sweet! space-ish echo-ish...
Or play with the swell or reverse modes, those are trippy...
I sold the DOD and I'm selling the Echo Park. I spent waaay too much time just playing trippy basslines to some random beats from my laptop... as much as I see the potential of effects on bass guitar, I don't play in a band where I could use them. What I can use, is the money I'm getting from selling these toys :P |

The knobs felt cheap.
The swell setting was disappointing, it works kind of like a tremolo.
The imitation analog seemed a bit weak or silly.
The modulation didn't grab me but I didn't spend much time on that.
However, I did like the trails and the ducking.
I'd guess this pedal might last a few years while the Boss would last a few decades. |

| | | | Dunno if the Echo Park can do this, but on my DD-6 it has a "reverse" delay feature. I like to set a short/quick delay and mix it with the dry signal. It can thicken it up and offer a "*** is wrong here" to anyone who hears it.

boss has a much longer history with delay pedals ..while for me just wanting something true bypass .. and also since echo park is built somehow after and similar with the notorious DL-4 .. worth using |

As for regular bass lines, I use rhythmic delay -- have the delay hit one or two beats later. Kinda Claypoolish. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
