Demos of Tech 21 Leeds, Oxford, U.S. Steel, Red Ripper & VT Bass Deluxe

So, here they are. All sound great IMHO except the Red Ripper. The bass-specific RR doesn't appear to be anything all that special. To my ears the new Source Audio MW Distortion Pro ()http://www.sourceaudio.net/products/...distortion.php) sounds MUCH better and also appears to be much more versatile.

The new VT Bass Deluxe looks very promising.

Can't wait to hear the Leeds and Oxford with a bass. Might be some good sounds to be had there.

All of these will be available in next 2 months or so.

Curious to hear other opinions........

The pedals are now up on Tech 21's website as well with a brief description of each.

These things really do sound amazing (jury is still out on the Red Ripper, imo though).

My VT has had me looking for an old SVT-300 power amp...

The Red Ripper sounds alright, but only when the character was rolled all the down, not big on 'synth distortion' myself

As for the others, I'd like to get my hands on the Oxford, U.S. Steel and VT Deluxe

Has anyone tried contacting Tech21 about using the Leeds or Oxford with bass?

I'm really looking forward to the Leeds, although it's obviously based on HiWatt guitar, not bass amps. We'll see how close it can get to John Wetton or Roger Waters in the mid-70s.

Red ripper looks like it has a lot of potential, but I don't think he really demoed it al that well.

From what I've seen from their printed material the VT mid knob is set at 500 cycles, while the guitar boxes are 1k (1000) mid. Is this consistent with these others? Is there any information about what they do down low?

Well the "Blonde" wasn't intended for bass either but it sounded fantastic imo! There's a thread floating around with demos: Tech 21 Blonde Pedal: Clips

Also noticed that the "older" pedals (including the current VT Bass) show no sign of being modified to include the push/push button to allow users to turn off the cab emulation. Will be interesting to see if this option is incorporated at a later date. But, it does seem like this is NOT to be included in the April/May release.

Back in the day, John Entwistle used the same Hiwatts as Pete. I think Live at Leeds used this rig.

GREAT NEWS ABOUT THE LEEDS!!

My sources tell me that they tried the Leeds with a bass - and in their opinion - it does sound very much like playing through a Hiwatt bass rig. Take it for what its worth......YMMV...

Should be interesting.

Very good news! Between this and the Blond I have high hopes for the Oxford

Wondering if the Leeds might be good for achieving a grindy John Entwistle/Tom Petersson sort of tone?

I reckon we can expect to see one on Chris Wolstenholme's pedal board in the near future.
