devi ever vintage fuzz master mini review

Hey all,

just a quick mini review as this has been mentioned more than a few times but never really seen a review of it...

unfortunately no clips though I think devi's youtube clip does it pretty good justice here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmuZH...eature=related
(sounds different on mine tho cos I use active basses plus was only using my 40w practice amp)

at first seemed horribly uncontrollable fuzz and was getting feedback all the time etc, but turning down all of my active EQ managed to make it like any other fuzz...

as with all devi pedals plenty of volume on tap... the control knob is pretty cool,... with it around the 9 o'clock mark it sounds just a lil bit like a malekko b:assmaster, noon is good for a ballsy bass fuzz with biting agressive high's, anywhere past this seems to turn into agressive disharmonic octave wall of noise fuzz... can definitely imagine this used well in a few genre's with the versatility

next thing I need to do is see how it reacts to being later in a chain behind boss pedals etc... see if that can smooth it out somewhat... when I get around to finding my Zoom H4 I'll try and put a few clips up!

edit: just tried it through my K5 which isn't as 'hot' as my gwb35... with the control turned hard left it has insane sustain and octavia,... a few people on the devi ever forums have suggested putting it after another dirt pedal to get diferent texture to so am going to fiddle with my pedal board next...

Indeed - good to see the VFM getting some love. It's highly underrated. I agree that it's worth trying it with other dirt in front - I love the sound I get from pushing it with my Hyperion. Also, I've found that when you add modulation (chorus & flange especially) you can get some great lead-synthy sounds.

cheers for some ideas... I was originally looking for a 'lead' pedal as I have a hyperiion and turbo rat that I love for dirt... but was more than impressed with the fact you can have bass fuzz with hint of octavia, absolute wall of noise or close to pure octavia in one small pedal...

need to resetup the board so I can see what is like with it behind the hyperion and rat and run into flanger...
