Hey
I'm looking at upgrading my Dave Hall Amps MK3/VT1 bass OD pedal and I'm hoping someone here has an opinion on which I might want to go to. My choices are...
1) DHA VT1 EQ Bass Drive
or
2) DHA VT2 Dual Bass Drive
Both have more than I really want. That is, I don't even use the silicon or germanium OD functions; I only like the light-medium VT1 drive sound. The VT1 EQ has a 3-band w/a DI; which could be nice to have, but I could get those options elsewhere. The VT2 has the option of driving a second tube stage; which could also be nice to have, but I've no idea what is sounds like compared to the VT1 function.
Any opinions? Thanks.

At any rate, I plan on buying a VT1 as soon as I can spare some money. |

The Dual has passive EQ where as the VT1-EQ is active. The new VT2-Twin-EQ has twin channels with active EQ on each.

I have a VT1-EQ-Bassdrive myself, and looooove where he's centered the bass frequency. Nice and thumpy if you turn it up, great with 15' speakers!
That said, with a P-bass, all the EQ levels are about right for rock at noon. So I'm a very happy man!
I've found the headphone output very useful, and having a DI with a volume knob has been useful too.
Thanks Dave you champion! |

But I only have cheapo headphones, and I'm not audiophile at all.
As long as I can't feel a loss of lowend, and I don't wake anyone up, I'm usually happy.
So Longhairfreak;
Are you looking to get two channels?
Have you tried just putting an EQ pedal, or a booster in front of the DHA you already have?
I currently use a booster with my DHA, sounds like when you fiddle with the I/P pad. Overdriven.
Using an EQ allows more tweaking if you want highs to be more overdriven than lows, or you just want the lows to fart out etc etc etc etc.... |

Since DHA has the fattest dirt around, I'm working with John at DHA-USA to get me another and I thought I'd upgrade while I'm at it. So, no, I'm not looking for two channels, I'm just trying to figure out which I really want.
For EQ, I already have an Ashly PQ-16 Parametric (a rackmount that I'm unsure of it's usefulness), a Trace Elliot SM7 (soon to be FS I'm thinking) &a Barber Electronics Linden EQ, so I don't really need another, but...
I am heavily leaning toward the VT1-EQ-Bassdrive. Dave's EQ might be 'the one', a headphone output can be useful and a top quality DI is a good thing to have.
BTW, I am currently using a EV dual 15.

John - or Dave - will probably be your best resource. |

The VT2-Twin shares the first stage of the first valve between red and blue channels, then second stage of the first valve gives the blue channel and both stages of the second valve is the red.
