He is just now setting up a US distributor, but I can't remember their web address. Aside from used/Ebay and direct from Dave in the UK, that's the only place to get one, so their price is "the" price, and you can find out more info by emailing Dave. I'll PM you his email address.

Hey Bongo,

I can't remember, but do you own a VT1? If so, what are your thoughts on it? I've been interested based on what I've heard, but have not pulled the trigger yet. Having owned about a millions bass overdrive, I've still not got the sound "in my head" yet.

Thanks,

Lyle

Check out my clips of the VT2 in the WIKI. Half of them are in single tube mode with all the extra features (clipping, colour, EQ) switched off which will sound identical to a plain ol' VT1.

Yes, I do have one, and I like it a lot. I've been meaning to write a review of it but hadn't gotten around to it yet. My view is that it has a super thick, fat, warm tone which is perfect for "warming up" a solid-state amp, essentially providing a footswitchable second channel. Yes it does do stronger overdrive, but even at high gain settings I would say it stays more in the "smooth and fat" camp rather than the buzzy, gritty, grindy OD/dirt that a lot of other tube OD's provide. Within the range of smooth and fat, it is very versatile and can go from very clean to very mushy and thick.

I did have a problem with it initially because the preamp I was playing through had an internally floating ground, and the DHA pedal has the power ground connected to the cable sleeve common, so the preamp caused the DHA to act "broken". It should not be a problem for maybe 99% of users, but there is some pro audio gear out there with a floating ground, so it could be an issue in some recording studios, or when weirdos like me use esoteric gear.

I frequently rant about how tube preamps with a single 12AX7 almost never provide the "fat warm tube sound" they promise; but the DHA actually does.

With the drive set very low, can the DHA do clean fattening? I was thinking something along the lines of an old Ampeg B-15?

Assuming it's like the VT2 then yes. If you turn the gain all the way down it almost cuts your volume out completely. Bring it up slightly so that you can just hear it and you'll have a job to recognise it's even turned on, it sounds that clean. Up a bit more and it starts to warm the sound up and make it a bit more 'lively', then up a bit more to get into grind territory, final destination crunchy town.

Hi,

Thanks to all for the interest in my pedals and amps.

As Bongo says we are setting up a US rep who will also manufacture the full range in the US. In fact I am sending a batch of samples this week to them.

They are taking orders but we will do the manufacturing in the UK until they are ready to take over which won't be that long now. If anyone is interested then please PM me and I will pass your details onto John and Brian in the US.

Dave

I just bought one from the UK eBay a week or so ago

When I searched in the US eBay I got nothing but when I searched the UK the DHA eBay store came up. I think it was about $209 with shipping.
