DI box after your cab

Sign in to disble this ad
I saw a DI box the other day that you can daisy chain with your cab and then send the signal to the board but now I cannot remember which one it is. Can anyone tell me what DIs you can use after your cab? Also does anyone know of any DI/preamp that also has a headphone out other than the Avalon U5 which is a little more than I would like to spend.

Samson S-Direct has a switch to use either line or speaker level input.

same deal with the Countryman T85. it handles something like a 600watt load @ 8 ohms if my memory serves...

Although it isnt "after cab" its after amp before cab.

H&K Redbox and Radial JDX also feature speaker emulation. So does one of the cheapo Behringers but YMMV.

Have you got a tube amp? Most people only bother taking a DI from the main outs to capture the sound of the power tubes. If not, then you can just use the amp's DI or put a regular DI in the FX loop.

Yes 3 of my 4 amps are all tube. Can the SansAmp BDDI also be used in this manner?

If you want to turn it into a paperweight...

But seriously; no the SansAmp can't be used with a speaker level input. A DI which can do this will indicate it very specifically - don't take a guess or you'll probably let the smoke out.

My cheapie Behringer, however, is switchable to take a speaker level input.

Just a small caveat; speakers are a HUGE part of the sound and the results may possibly not be what you want.
