DI and Preamp

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, I own a Sansamp, which is great but I'm needing a DI and preamp that doesn't color the sound. Like I said, the Sansamp is great but I always don't need the tube emulation. But I'd like something i could tweak if I have to.

Any suggestions would be great

Try Radial Bassbone
lots of features, 2 channels with separate EQ, effect loop, boost and a pro quality DI.

Just turn the blend knob down. That'll back off the tube emulation until you like where it's at. Or spend the $200+ on the Radial. It's pretty nice.

Bassbone is indeed top notch quality as are all things Radial. The ability to run two different basses and be able to balance the volume between them is nice. They sound flat when the EQ is flat, and you can cut and boost. The thing that I like about the Bassbone is that the bass shelving point is a good bit higher than most other Preamp-DI's. As such, it doesn't get boomy, but thick and warm.

I'd have to double check, but I don't think the Bassbone DI output is hot enough to drive a poweramp fully though, so that might be a hindrance if that's how you intend to use it.

I think I'm going to use my Shuttle 6.0 as my DI for the job I'm getting booked for. (Orchestra pit for a musical)
I use the built in DI for all my live shows and sounds guys love it. Plus, I get all my EQ that I love from the shuttle and let's face it, it only weighs 3.5 lbs.
Additionally, it has a mute and tuner out.
A little bit bigger than my Sansamp or a Bassbone, but just as good if you ask me.
