Did I get a dud?

Just bought a Digitech Compression pedal used, and the pedal won't switch on/off.

At first I thought it might be the little rubber piece on the bottom of the "pedal" was worn as was not activating the switch, but I pulled the pedal off and pressed the switch with a pen and it still does not switch on/off.

So if I want to use it, its stuck on, which is not bad, but defeated the purpose IMO.

Any ideas?

if you can't figure it out, I would just return it. You said you JUST bought it, so I assume you are still within the return policy stage.

edit: just noticed you said you bought it used. If not from a store, just contact the seller and see if you can get a refund for defunct item

Weird, switching the battery worked, but I put a new one in when a bought it and have max 5 hours on the battery.

Perhaps the battery was a dud? Or is 5 hours typical battery life?
