Hey guys i bought a Big Muff pi a couple months ago, well its sit around for a little bit with no use. Well today i decide to plug it in to practice a riff in one of my bands new songs and i get nothing at all through it,(i should mention that this is only when i click it on that i get nothing through the amp no noise or anything, however when i click it of i get my basses clean tone just fine out of my amp), i checked to make sure i had the cables in the right places, brand new battery, hell i even opened it up to make sure all the connections were soldered. I'm fresh out ideas so im turning to you TB any advice on this problem?

The Black Russian has the input/outputs switched (common complaint).
Have you ever tried it before or is this the very first time? |

If it's not good (no current flow in either direction), then just switch it out with a 1N4001 (common and available at RadioShack). What the diode does is rectify the incoming signal from the power supply, which isn't a perfect flat DC wave, rather a "humped" wave (kinda like this: ^-^-^-^-^) when the diode is done with it, it looks like this: --------. pure, flat DC.

A digital multi-meter (they can be had cheap at Radio Shack) set in the diode (or continuity) mode. make sure you find the little line on the diode, whichever end it's closest too is where the current goes OUT (they're like check valves, current only flows one way). If the meter beeps/shows current flow, then it's not the diode. If it doesn't, you know the drill.

I've got a NYC BMP as well, and never ran into this problem. Mine has even survived a rehousing into a smaller enclosure and a boss-style 9vdc adapter retrofit. Have you tried running it off an adapter? |

haha
Good call on the adaptor! Let us know, Aemina. |

haha | Good thing that my BMP has a different housing. They must be overlooking mine as a replica or imposter. |
