okay, so some quick history...
1.) i was asked to play bass for a band (i'm usually a guitar/drummer)
2.) i already had a Fender Jazz and an Ampeg V4
3.) needed some effects pedals
4.) bought a Line 6 M9
5.) dialed in some awesome sounds for the M9
6.) Got GAS
7.) bought a PS-3, OC-2, and Fulltone BassDrive
so here i am today . . . disappointed with my compulsiveness!
The OC-2 doesn't even come close to the Bass Octaver on the M9! (for what i use it for: getting a low C or B from the A string) waist of money for me!
The Fulltone BassDrive? well, i figured it has some pretty versatile setting on it which i'll need to explore more, but i still think my Tube Drive settings on the M9 are trumping it.
PS-3? i don't know. it might be more for the guitarist in me, but i doubt i'll really take advantage of its full use. (total impulse buy based on ONE stinkin' youtube video)
so now, i seriously might consider buying ANOTHER M9!
my goal is to have a "dry" or "A" signal that i can add the Bass Octaver and Tube Drive, while the other "wet" or "B" signal is two pitches up with delay and reverb. (That particle reverb sounds amazing!)

When you think you've mastered the M9, buy and expression pedal and open up a whole new level of goodness. |

I was over-excited with my M13 and now I'm back to individual pedals. I'm glad you like it, but don't freak out and skeet all over yourself just yet. Play with it, use it in a mix, learn the limitations, etc. It's never a good idea to call a pedal great/terrible without using it for awhile. Quote:

sike.
thanks guys, for dealing with my craziness!
i'm not shedding anything yet, but i was just blown away at the further capabilities of the M9. i'd still like to get a decent Octaver, considering i'll definitely shed the Boss OC-2.
i'll be gigging with the PS-3 & BassDrive this weekend, so i'll hopefully get a better feel for it with my Ampeg rig vs. my practice amp.

My recommendation would be trade everything for a M13 and an expression pedal.

The GT-10 sounds great into the front of an amp or in the fx loop, and the m9 will fit in great in the GT's FX loop. Also the GT has dual signal chains so you can do exactly what you were talking about earlier. I have both, but on bass I dont see myself needing more than the M9 into front of amp.
On second thought, from what you said earlier you may want to consider just going GT-10, because you play guitar too, and have an amp, so you could just use it for FX with the dual signal chain. Oh yeah, I just talked myself into you getting the GT-10 LOL

for some reason my mind is going numb...

I like being able to read all my effects at once, which is why I like my M13, but to have a looper available for each parallel loop would be amazing. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
