Differences: Zoom B2 vs B2.1u

From what i can tell they should have the same features and build, just one has the vol/expression pedal. Or am i missing something. Im considering the B2 as its smaller for my pedal board, unless theres a reason to go to the 2.1u

AFAIK they are essentialy the same inside, you can expand the B2 with an external expression pedal later if you want that functionaility.

I have the B2.1u.
I'd have to say that I like the expression pedal's features a lot.
You can assign the pedal to anything you want. Wet/dry mixes, effect rates, depth... And you can use the pedal to shut off the effect you assigned it to.
For instance, say, you're playing a patch with an Ampeg sound, and in the middle of the song you want some chorus. With the B2, you'll have to save a whole new patch next to your current one, but this time with the chorus added.
With the exp. pedal, instead of saving a whole new patch, you can assign chorus to it and use the pedal to turn it on. Full toe down postion activates a button for this function.
Pretty handy.
Plus the whammy function is cool with the pedal. Smooth octave up.

The exp is definitely a feature which adds a lot of flexibility and convenience in my opinion.

The B2 doesn't have USB connection. If you plan on using it along with your computer, get the B2.1u.

1. USB Interface
2. DI Output
3. Expression Pedal

Those are three BIG things for me:

1) I use the expression pedal mostly as a volume pedal...and that is such a handy thing to have on stage for many reasons
2) I use the DI live, it's good and saves me from having to use another DI.
3) I use the USB interface, not only for recording, but also for playing along through my headphones to .mp3's and CD's on my laptop...

The B2.1u is the best piece of bass gear I ever purchased...PERIOD...

I opted for the B2 but it's a great little unit. You do better tonally with pedals but it does a lot of things very well for a $100 unit. The DI and USB means nothing to me, but an expression pedal might have been cool for the wah patches.

Seems you know the board pretty well
I just got the 2.1u, but the manual was pretty much crud to me (Along with software incompatibility)
Would you happen to know how to setup/acknowlwedge effects on the board (Whammy, distortion...)?
