Different BOSS Eras/Quality?

I hadn't really handled my flanger much until the other day when I was wiping down/cleaning stuff for potential sale. Compared to my other Boss pedals, this particular flanger is way lighter, has a loose power jack, rattles a little. It must have been MI-somewhere-crappy. I owned the same flanger years ago (like 2000-ish) and remember it feeling real solid.

My 27 year old, MIJ, loose power jack, sometimes wonky bypass switch OC-2 still sounds great.

This flanger sounds fine. I am just upset that I have the "cheap" one and not the "tank" version.

Just pointing out that my supposed "better quality" MIJ has the same issue as your supposed "cheaper quality" MIT.

Although the fact that that OC-2 will be 30 by the end of the Mayan calender says a little something about the MIJ's quality.

ive got a real old oc-2 thats alive and well. i'm waiting on an older boss flange from the classifieds right now.. i guess ill find out when i get it.

80's boss pedals seem to have a little bit of a mistique to them.. weather or not theyre better, i guess is up to you.

Yeah, the quality of pedals does change in a fairly predictable manner. (I think it's probably due to different materials, outsourcing of labor, etc.)
