Digging the Pigtronix Fat Drive

OK, so I have been looking for an overdrive box for a long time...one that was not too over the top...too fuzzy or fizzy, too aggressive, or too noisy. I wanted something where I could dial in a slight gritty/bluesy vintage type sound that didn't kill the natural tone of the Bass too much, didn't lose the lows, and still provide me with a bit of high end brightness. Kind of a weird combination of modern and vintage tone...weird maybe...

Anyway, I picked up a Pigtronix Fat Drive from a another TB'r earlier this week, and have been playing around with it...and so far, i'm pretty happy! Note that this is the original Fat Drive (not the Bass Fat Drive). It seems to do pretty much what I was looking for, and allows me to get a subtle overdriven bite while still allowing for the fundemental tone of my bass and rig to come through.

Anyways, I've seen mention of this pedal a few time, but not sure it's getting a lot of love...I also know they ar releasing a "Bass" Fat Drive soon...I may give that a spin as well when it's available, but for now, the original Fat Drive is doing a fine job for me...

I dug it when I had mine. My problem was the fact I had a Tube Preamp, and the Fatty just made everything waaay...tubey. For being able to pick them up so cheap I'd highly recommend checking it out if you want a less "modern" sounding OD.
