Is it worth a darn? My girlfriend went to gc to get me a micro q-tron but they were out so she got me this, it is a birthday present. But is it worth keeping?

Depends. I'm a guitar player that bought a bass. It does what I want: helps me record bass lines into my computer, without the additional purchase of bass amps. I think the best thing about these kind of devices is that they give the novice a chance to experiment and find out what they like. Sort of a poor man's test drive.

Also, it has the pedal you can use for whammy, wah, or volume, so that's cool too.

It's a decent little pedal, very usable at least to practice on effects.
