Digital-sounding noise on my Sansamp programmable BDDI

Sign in to disble this ad
So I picked up my old Sansamp programmable BDDI the other day after a few months without using it and was very surprised to hear that something is not right with it.

Each of the presets now has a lot of hissing noise on it that would not go away, regardless of the setting on the pedal. That's not the main problem, though, now whenever I turn one of the knobs it produces a rapid clicking sound that remains until I change the preset. The clicking noise is very digital sounding too, which I haven't encountered in the pedal before.

Has anyone else ever encountered this kind of thing with the a programmable sansamp pedal?

I've got a programmable BDDI and I've noticed the clicking. As I'm sure you know, when you change pre-sets the light blinks to indicate where the knob was before moving. I think the clicking is a digital artifact of the blinking LED's, which piles up and get louder the more knobs you move, until you save the preset and it goes away. Except preset saving, it is otherwise an analog unit.

I don't know about the hissing problem though, and whatever is causing that might be amplifying the clicking.
