I am looking for a digital synth pedal to get something like what industrial/goth bands use. ie nine inch nails or the birthday massacre.
i have a few different distortions i like and use but they dont have that digital sound to them.

WMD Geiger Counter has all the digital distortion you can handle.

Yeah, I was going to say some sort of bit-crusher will really get you that NIN sound. I use the Alesis Bitrman for that, although its not really mean to be a "pedal", the bypass is just a small plastic button. But I haven't broken it yet

Why not just get an external foot pedal for the Bitrman? I'm pretty sure the pedal jack just uses a momentary switch to toggle it on and off.

I have a Bitrman as well, and I just kept in my bypass looper until it was replaced by the Geiger Counter- in addition to the inconvenient bypass button, it also has a horrible tone sucking bypass. Other than that, its a very musical bitcrusher, has a decent ringmod, and retains the low end well.

the Geiger Counter sounds amazing. Is there anything a little bit more cost effective? $300 is a bit...a lot...out of my price range.

Bumping an oldish thread, but I'm keen on some suggestions here too.
