Digitech Bad Monkey and Hardwire CM-2

Searching for CM-2 does not seem to help...

So, has anyone tried the Hardwire "Tube Overdrive" pedal or, even better, directly compared it to the much-loved Bad Monkey? Am I correct in guessing that the CM-2 is also a Tubescreamer circuit? Is it suitable for bass (the "modified" mode is supposed to provide a "bigger" low end)? I will not be able to try out the Hardwire it until mid-July and in the meantime I would like to know if I should expect something radically different from the Digitech, or if the double price will simply get me a bright blue LED to rival my brother/guitarist's TL-2 and RV-7.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Well, I'll be heading to some of my local guitar shops soon, they all stock the Hardwire stuff, so I'll try it out & give you some feedback.

I had Bad Monkey and never really cared for it. It didn't have the Badder Monkey bass mod though. I also have the Hardwire Tube overdrive and I like that pedal a lot. I've gone through a lot of overdrive pedals and this is the one that I've ended up with. Tone is subjective and overdrive appreciation is even more subjective. Some of the highly desirable fuzz pedals sound like butt to me, so take this opinion with a grain of salt.

The blue LED is kinda cool.... The build quality is much better than the Bad Monkey. The Hardwire is a little bigger in size.

I owned the CM-2 for about three weeks before taking it back. Obviously everyone has a different idea of what sounds good but I just felt like it was too muffled. Then again, I use the ODB-3 so I guess my overdrive taste is rather odd.
