Which is the better pedal in terms of envelope filter. I have the Digitech one but i am considering the EHX because I would like a better envelope filter sound. |

| | | | Well I like to play funk like The Kids by Jamiroquai, I want Zender's envelope filter, I know he uses a Boss ME-8B, but I want to replicate that tone the best I can. |

| | | | He probably actually used a Mutron in the studio, I don't remember it's been awhile since I listened to that track, but I think the mini Q tron will get you closer than the Digitech will. But picking out of all the envelope filters I've used, which is a lot of them, I would recommend the EBS BassIQ for what you're going for. It's not what Stuart Zender would have used, but I remember coming closer to those sounds with it than other filters. |

| | | | That's too far out of my price range. Would it be worth it buying the mini q-tron or would it be pretty much the same as the digitech. |

| | | | It's definitely very different from the Digitech, and likely closer to what you want, but I feel the difference between it and the Digitech is nothing compared to the difference you'd find between the Digitech and something like a real Q Tron or an EBS BassIQ. If you can't afford the EBS my next suggestion would be to search for a used Q Tron - not the mini or micro - as it's circuit is much closer to the actual circuit that would have been used by Stuart Zender. |

I have never played a full Q-Tron, but to my ears, the Mini comes pretty close. I got mine for less than $50 shipped on eBay. |
