Digitech Bass Whammy Availability

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been eBaying for ages trying to get one of these... just wondered if anyone knew anyone, anywhere in the world, selling one?!

I'm considering getting a WH-4, but I'm not sure it'll cope with my low B, or bass frequencies in general?

Post a wanted ad in the TB clasifieds. I got a Deep Impact really quickly that way (In a few hours).

You just have to set a fair price and someone will part with one.

Hehe, I run a forum with supporting membership and I'm constantly telling people they're not paying for a service, they're getting benfits for being nice enough to donate! :P

Still say the bass whammy isn't worth more than 300-400$.

And I own one

Good thing I was patient and waited for a good deal ;]

Not on eBay, you won't. But there are deals around occasionally. I sold my Bass Whammy here on TB last fall for under 400.

I haven't tried it on a low B string, but it's worked rather well for me in drop-D tuning (D-A-D-G).

It supposedly doesn't track as well on low notes as the Bass Whammy, but it works well enough for how I use it. And if your inspiration happens to be covering Tool songs... it'll cover most of them.

Maybe not considering the demand

but once you factor in the market for them.. be prepared to shell out.

Heh, my inspiration is simply that I want one - I'll do my own thing with it, not copy someone else

I couldn't tell you where JC uses his wah in the songs tbh... never tried to learn a Tool song! I'm not big on covers in general, I'm in to original stuff

That makes you an oddity among Bass Whammy hunters.

Check out the Whammy IV and see if you like that. The Bass Whammy has a few different modes (one of which is incredibly useful on bass - 5th Up / 1 Octave Up Harmony), but they're still similar sound-wise and have many common modes.

Plus, it'd save you a ton of money, if you decide that you don't need some of those "Bass Whammy exclusive" modes.

Heh, really? Thought it would be sought after because of it's uniqueness, not because people wanted to sound like someone else!

Anyway... this is the last pedal (! haha, G.A.S anyone? :P) I want for the time being... with this, I've got my "complete" pedal board... I got rid of my Boss GT6-B a while back in favour of pedals because it sucked my tone. I'm very precious of it

I've tried my guitarists WH-4... only very briefly. He didn't want me to use it too much because he thought the bass frequency might break it, hah! Funny lad... ;P Basically, I liked it, but wanted a bit more bass in it... hopefully the Bass Whammy will give me that and money isn't really an issue at the moment! I've spent around £1700 on bass stuff in the last week!

I have the WH-4. Not exactly a beast on the B and E strings but it gets the job done. On the A, D and G though it just sings. Really beautiful sounds.

if youre feeling adventurous and/or desperate. you could get the boss ps-5.
and an expression for it.

it'd be the same as a whammy pedal.
and then some!

the ps-5 is supposed to work pretty well for bass too.
and while it is debatable. alot of people prefer it to the whammy because its less "glitchy". (ha, whatever that means i thought they worked fine)

i'd say thats the way to go unless you want the AUTHENTIC bass whammy
god why doesnt digitech just re release it
