Digitech BP-355

Hello Bassers! Hey, I am really digging the Digitech BP 355.
I am telling you that this unit is unbelievable. Great tones all around. I know that some of you are still deciding if you should get one. Well, of course that is your ultimate decision. But let me tell you what I know so far on this.

The looper is great and easy to use. You can do at least 4-5 overdubs. I havent timed it out as far as the 20 secs that it gives you but I have come up with some awesome stuff.
I usually start with a bass drum beat as a guide and then the bass riff, or two, then I will change to a distortion sound and solo or and a guitar like riff to it. Man...sweeet!

The editing is simple. Any preset can be edited and then stored.
This is where the fun really kicks in cause you got tons of tones to mix and match.

The synth sounds are cool but kind of limited. You can get a really good "OUCH" sound. Think the bassline on Suesudio!

I can go on and on about this thing.

Well, I just got mine today!!!! It is just awesome!!!! I was worried that I didn't make a good purchase, but wow, I am impressed, the drum patterns are AMAZING!!!

Glad you enjoyed it, moofknock. you can create a lot of awesome sounds with this multi-effects processor. I enjoy my digitech bp355. I've created some awesome sounds with it. it's definite keeper.

Moofknock, are you happy with it....wait..yeah you are. It is truly a great unit and well worth the price. You got to tweak some sounds here and there but overall the presets are dead on with a bass players needs.

You know, it was strange, because I'm very bad when I'm going to purchase something. I just got my annual bonus from work and, yes, I have enough to save. And even though I planned to get this with the bonus, there is that little voice nagging in the back of your head saying:

"Don't buy it" "Save" "Do you REALLY need this?" And so on and on and on....

It took me about 35 minutes, at leats my friend DK at Guitar Center was very patient with me and gave me a demonstration of the BP355.

I bought it and after practicing with it I can say it was a great purchase and I am really happy!

Of course I'm not going to make a major Bass purchase until Christmas (I want the Ibanez SR700).

So here it is... I created a clean No FX setting when I just want to use the Drum patters as a metronome when learning from my books. That alone was great! Now I'm reading the manual and experimenting with the sounds

Kinda strange that everything seems to have come at the same time. I got this amazing multi effect pedal and yesterday the book I ordered "The Total Funk Bassist" just arrived. And I ordered fret decals for my bass too.

Yeah..the drum patterns are good. I love the Hip Hop ones.

Hey, another book you need to check out if you are into the funk slap thing is Slap It. I actually have to buy a new one soon cause the one I have now is probably 25 years old!!! Didn't come with CDs. Came with a soundsheet you had to put on a turntable. Oh the memories...one time at band camp...Oh, wait!
Lets get back on track here." Slap it " is great cause it will start you of with basic techniques and then get into the fun stuff.

Do appreciate it So far the books the I have is "The Total Rock Bassist" which is what I use and a textbook and I got the Funk one, which I will use once I finish the first book.

All and all I can say I'm a happy Moof with my Multi-Effects Processor!

I haven't used it yet, but it does include all the manuals in PDF format. Check the Steinberg Folder in you program files. They are in a folder over there. Good Luck!

I had one of Digitech's first bass processors, the BP-200 from like 10 years ago.

It was decent for multi-effect processor. DT even sent me a free t-shirt after I wrote a good review about it on Harmony Central. When one of the switches went bad I wrote CS and they sent me a replacement switch for free.

Though, I havent used it in about 4 years. I later gave it to a guitarist friend for him to mess around with. I much prefer having single stomp boxes these days.

I have heard rumors of a Whammy like effect on this box... Is it true? could it save me $300.00+ from having to buy a bass whammy?

The BP355 does have the whammy on it. Very adjustable. You can go two octaves. Not to sound like a salesman, but this is an awesome unit with almost unlimited sound creation. I say that cause I find different sounds every day just by tweaking and mixing different effects and amps.

I just picked up the BP355. I'm not a big effects cat, but I'm playing in a 3-pc right now with a guitarist that plays very "economically" which is forcing me to find ways to fill things out without overplaying...... and I'm getting a lot more solos. I was shopping around for a chorus, octaver, and another overdrive pedal...... the more I looked at how much I was going to spend, the more the BP355 became more viable solution. I'll never use 95% of what this thing has to offer, but man, I love the TC chorus and OC2 models. The fuzzface preset is pretty hip too.... I reset it up without the amp model, and it's pretty fun. I'm also finding that choosing an amp model and overdriving it sounds better than many of the distortion models.

Anyway, if you're on the hunt for a couple of effects, think about the BP355. You could easily spend more on a couple of pedals than you will for the BP355.

Glad you like it IJazz. The BP355 does have some great things about it. I like the looper the best. I am still finding different tones all the time. The synth you really gotta tweak, but you can get some great sounds there.

Heres a suggestion, since your guitar player plays "economically", try using the looper for some added support. Simple bassline with added overdubs goes a long way and would fill out the overall sound. I am working on a 2-piece with a guitar player and what I do for percussive sounds is mute slap a rhythm followed by a bass riff. Then fill with some swells or whatever fits the particular song. We are trying to get in to little coffee houses or places like that cause we got some interesting jams going on. Kinda like acid jazz. Okay..I am rambling again.
